Sustainability – Blooming With Intention

At April Flowers, sustainability is not a trend. It’s how we live, how we design, and how we grow.

We’re proud to practice Eco Floristry every step of the way. From the petals to the packaging, we’re constantly making conscious choices that care for the earth without sacrificing beauty. Around 80 percent of our flowers are locally sourced right here in British Columbia, and for international blooms, we work exclusively with ethical farms and wholesalers who share our values.

We believe flowers should feel good inside and out. Here’s what sustainability looks like at April Flowers:

  1. Eco-Friendly Practices
We’re big on leaving a lighter footprint. That means choosing local whenever possible, wrapping our bouquets in biodegradable materials, and using recyclable and compostable packaging. Even our flower food packets are biodegradable, so you can toss them without a second thought.
  2. Long-Lasting Blooms
Our Everyday Bouquets are built to last. We carefully choose varieties with strong vase life and give you easy care tips so your flowers stay fresher longer. It’s not just about the moment, it’s about the magic that lingers.
  3. Giving Back
Flowers are love, and we believe in paying that love forward. A portion of our profits supports environmental organizations doing real work to protect the planet. When you shop with us, you’re giving back too.
  4. Local Love
We proudly support local flower farms and small businesses. Buying local means less transportation and fresher flowers for you. It also strengthens our local economy and keeps our community blooming.
  5. Growing Greener
We are always evolving. Whether it’s reducing waste, rethinking our materials, or sourcing smarter, we’re in it for the long haul. We’re not perfect, but we are dedicated to doing better every day.

Our custom flower boxes are made from locally recycled materials and are fully recyclable. They’re not just pretty, they’re practical. Our arrangements often feature innovative materials like Agrawool and Oshun pouches made from potato starch, giving us compostable alternatives that still hold their shape. Because every detail matters.

As we grow, so does our commitment to Eco Floristry. At April Flowers, we’re not just here to design beautiful things, we’re here to do it responsibly. Every bloom you bring home is part of something bigger.

Thanks for helping us spread joy the sustainable way. One flower, one box, one small change at a time.
