The Bloom Room is a book club built around our floral table, where we read together, talk it through, and build something beautiful with our hands. It's a slow, intimate evening at April Flowers in Lougheed Town Centre, Burnaby, easy to reach from New Westminster, Coquitlam, Port Moody, and across Greater Vancouver.

Every book we pick unfolds over three Wednesday evenings, split into thirds like the story itself. Bud, the opening chapters. Bloom, the story opens up. Bouquet, everything comes together. After each read, we gather in the shop to talk about that part of the book and build an arrangement inspired by it.

April's pick: The Language of Flowers

By Vanessa Diffenbaugh. A young woman aging out of foster care uses Victorian floriography, the language of flowers, to say what she can't say out loud, while her own past slowly comes into focus. It felt like the only place to start.

What is The Bloom Room?
A floral book club at April Flowers in Burnaby. Each book is read over three Wednesday evenings, and each evening pairs a conversation about that part of the story with building a flower arrangement inspired by it.

What book are we reading?
The first pick is The Language of Flowers by Vanessa Diffenbaugh. Your copy is included with your ticket.

Do I buy a ticket for each session?
No. One ticket covers all three sessions: Bud, Bloom and Bouquet.

Do I need any flower arranging experience?
None at all. We guide every build, so it's just as lovely for beginners.

How much do I need to read before each session?
About a third of the book. Bud covers the opening chapters, Bloom the middle, and Bouquet the ending.

How many people are in the group?
Just 8, so the conversation stays personal and everyone has room at the table.

At April Flowers, inside Lougheed Town Centre in Burnaby.
